Why
is Macedonia a famous wine region?
According to some
archeological researches, we have findings that the production of the
commercial production of wine dates back to 13th century B.C.
Macedonia is also known as the land of the sun – it has 270 sunny days in a
year, hence the cultivation of the wine grapes has a high quality.
The continental climate caressed by the
Mediterranean winds additionally contribute for the rich aromas of Macedonian
wines.
The production of Macedonian wines encompasses
three main wine regions:
East region
(Pcinja-Osogovo)
- Kumanovo Vineyards
- Kratovo Vineyards
- Pijanec Vineyards
Central Region
(Povardarie)
- Skopje Vineyards
- Veles Vineyards
- Ovche Pole Vineyards
- Kochani Vineyards
- Strumica – Radovish Vineyards
- Gevgelija – Valandovo Vineyards
